“even Since I was a little girl i found a urge to make and tell stories which my mother wrote down. first i thought i would do theater and become an actor. but i ended up as a film director at the age of 21”.

Marja Bål Nango is a Norwegian Sami artist and filmmaker who has created several short films. In 2014, she directed Halvt ditt, halvt datt, on the multicultural problems experienced by the Samis. In 2015 her film Oh máigon girl was shown at the Tromsø International Film Festival where it won the Rookie Award and went on to be included in the Nord-program films shown in St. Petersburg and Moscow. In 2018 Nango was one of 12 filmmakers selected to take part in UP, a development program for female filmmakers aimed at achieving better balance between male and female participants in Norwegian films. At the 2019 Tromsø International Film Festival, she won the best debut award for her short film The Tongues, a 15-minutes drama about the experience of a Sami woman who was raped while out in a snowstorm. For this film Nango also have been award best director in Rhode Island International Film Festival. During 2020 The Tongues have traveled and are still traveling around world on several filmfestivals with great reviews.

For Prosjekt 67 Marja Bål Nango will screen her new short film This is Fiction-19 made together with Ingir Bål Nango. This is Fiction-19 will also during October have its international premiere at the ImagineNATIVE Film Festival in Canada, which is the world largest native filmfestival.

The location for this project will be Nord Universitet in Bodø.
